INTEGRATED BRANDING: SALT LAKE RECORDING SERVICE

Salt Lake Recording Service came to us with a plan in mind: they wanted to open a new recording studio in an already saturated market. The difference between Salt Lake Recording Service and everybody else, however, would prove to be key to their brand: SLRS is vintage. They feel that "the unending quest for a big, perfect sound has left the vast majority of the music produced in the last ten years cold..." To that end, the partners procured some of the best equipment from the golden years of recording and set out to recapture the electric quality of vintage recordings, where energy and emotion ooze from every pore.

Amplify Media + Design started out by creating their logo:

We used vintage colors, vintage typography, and a rendering of the classic birdcage mike used by Johnny Cash and Elvis. But we kept the lines clean and the balance modern so that potential customers would know that SLRS is current and active.

It doesn't end there, however. In order to have a successful brand, a business needs to maintain consistency throughout all elements. Otherwise, the business "personality" comes across as scattered and unreliable. The next step was to design their collateral based upon the identity established by the logo. Here is an example of a SLRS business card:

We used the same combinations vintage color scheme and more modern lines and balance in creating this collateral.

The next project was their website. Since websites are a much larger palette, we were able to incorporate and show more of the business' personality. SLRS is vintage. They're grungy. The sound matters more than the look. We captured that through use of textures and silhouettes:
